A time when I felt empowered was last year during basketball, when Coach told me that I was one of the best shooters he had ever coached, that I was leading the team during warm-ups and helping everyone as best I could during practice. Because of all this, Coach thanked me all the time. He and I had had some rough times, but that’s ok because we made it through those rough times and became closer because of it. Like one time during a game, we had one timeout left and only five seconds left on the clock. He told the team that he was the only one allowed to call timeout, so I started yelling at him for not calling a timeout. At the end of the game, he told me that I was right and he should have called a timeout, so he gave me permission and if I ever felt like we needed it, I could call a timeout, too.
