At my school, I am a member of a club called Destination Imagination (DI). In DI, teams of up to seven students are tasked with creating and building a story and props from scratch. All of these teams then compete against teams from around the world at the Global Finals in Knoxville, Tennessee. But in order for everyone on our team to participate in this once-in-a-lifetime event, we needed around $15,000. So we set out and asked our school and community for help, and over the next few months, we were overwhelmed with the amount of support our teachers, peers, and community provided us. Random people from town gave us whatever they could, even if they didn’t know us! Luckily, we raised enough for the entire team to compete in Tennessee. We couldn’t have done it without our community.
